Major Lazer: “Pon De Floor” Video

by chloe on August 21, 2009

From my mans’ Diplo and Switch’s new Major Lazer shit  . . . this is the most bananas video I’ve seen in a minute. Mad Jamaicans humping each other with a fake-ass technicolor living room backdrop. And at about 3:10, this dude actually jumps a chick from a ladder with his drawls down. Watch immediately. As for preparation, I can’t say it better than my man ondusko (who uploaded this shit an hour ago): “this is a very sexy psychadelic video. So roll it,Light it and have your woman near by so you can practice the daggerin when its done.” Curtains.

Props to Pusha

Major Lazer, my most posted about subject thus far, played their first show in New York last weekend, and it was epic. Head honchos Diplo and Switch (and their special guests 77 Klash and Ricky Blaze) wore matching three-piece suits and the dancers pulled out some crazy yoga/break routines, all while the crowd spazzed out to an early morning session of island-warped bliss. Below I posted my hilarious conversation with “the Major himself”, in which he talks about ML’s goal for Jamaican youth as well as why the debut release (which came out yesterday) is going to be the biggest album this summer! For more background info on Diplo and Switch’s new dancehall outfit, check out these blog posts:

I’ve also hooked you up with my man Mel D. Cole’s photos from the SOBs riot, big ups and nice shots!

ML: bwai me feel say ah diplo and switch yu de chat bout, but from mi link dem yute de, de whole ah we know seh dis aguh be di biggest ting fi di summa.

Major Lazer Major Lazer Major Lazer

April 21, 2009

Last year, Mad Decent’s head honcho Diplo teamed up with UK production genius Switch to create Major Lazer, a crazy dancehall-surf-meets-Baltimore-club-banger outfit that recently killed it in the Fader Fort at SXSW. Their debut album Guns Don’t Kill People, Lazers Do drops June 16 and yesterday the Mad Decent blog hollered with “Hold the Line”, [...]
