2010 version via Kanye’s blog . . . Jean Paul Goude originally did some serious pre-photoshop collaging to get this ill ‘85 album cover . . . 2.5 decades later Amber Rose does a redux for the unveiling of Ye’s new all-white blog. Amber emulating Grace is nothing new - her recent Complex shoot was pretty much a toned down Grace Jones compilation, just as the top picture is a less extreme physical pose than the one below it. Since there’s no point in comparing talent, suffice to say that Ms. Rose’s modern, confident sex appeal successfully channels Ms. Jones rockstar androgyny. Love? Hate? Hit me in the comments . . .
Ladies have been bucking the trend of traditionally feminine (long) hair for awhile - most notably ’80s celeb rebels Grace Jones and Salt and Peppa - but just now now I have noticed that gal friends of mine are making regular trips to Big John at Levels on Fulton for their weekly straight razor shaves. Does anyone know what this style is called? Can we add she-fade to the urban dictionary? Side-shave? I dare you to try it out and send me a picture and a name suggestion. Until then, be jealous of Raquel and Maria (pictured above), my bangin’ Brooklynite homies who stay cool in the summer with their asymmetrical ‘dos and murk the party wherever they go.
