I was never really into bluegrass music until I heard this band. The Brooklyn-based boys from the City Billies (yes, that’s hill-billies x city kids) mix country and reggae music to create a swinging island feel with a steady supply of positive vibes. Sasha’mani Francois leads the band with powerful vocals and an enviable collection of suspenders, while twangy guitar lines, funky percussion and the occasional horn player round out the group.
